Emerging Mayo artist to host exhibition of her impressive collections

Emerging Mayo artist Jenny Grogan is staging an exhibition of her impressive work in the Clew Bay Hotel, Westport, from June 1 to 20.

The official launch night is scheduled for June 21 (6 to 8 p.m.), where she will be celebrating two of her collections, The Atlantic Series and the Explorer Series.

The Atlantic Series draws inspiration from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, highlighting the incredible wildlife and biodiversity that surrounds the west coast.

In contrast, the Explorer Series is deeply rooted in local legend and history, focusing on the adventures of Grace O'Malley.

Her remarkable journeys and the rich maritime heritage of the area have profoundly influenced my work.

Since moving to Westport in 2022, she has found a vibrant creative community that has truly inspired me.

She said: "This transition solidified my passion for art, allowing my creativity to flourish in ways I never imagined.

"I believe that the stunning surroundings of Clew Bay have played a significant role in this artistic release."

Her art is primarily abstract, created with mixed media, particularly acrylic on canvas.

She explained: "I also produce lino prints and spray paint murals, with a strong focus on my colour palette choices.

"It often takes days to finalise swatches before starting a piece, and the direction may shift based on the outcomes.

"I enjoy layering colours and believe that time is key to success; patience allows me to observe the depth and light in each piece.

"I aim for my pieces to evoke positive reactions and spark the imagination.

"I share my inner feelings through calm or joyous colour palettes, infusing my energy and that of my clients into the art.

"My goal is for viewers to feel a sprinkle of happiness when observing my work and to feel proud of their interpretations.
