Mayo island given Agri-Food Tourism boost
Minister of State Alan Dillon has warmly welcomed the announcement of a €16,800 grant awarded to the Inishturk Community Club for their Taste of Inishturk project under the Agri-Food Tourism Investment Scheme.
Speaking following the announcement, Minister Dillon said: “This is a fantastic boost for Inishturk and a well-deserved recognition of the unique and authentic food tourism experience the island offers.
"I sincerely thank my colleague, Minister Martin Heydon, for his strong support of this application and for championing investment in rural and island communities.”
Minister Dillon highlighted the importance of agri-food tourism as a growing sector in Co. Mayo.
“Promoting and investing in agri-food tourism is a key priority for me.
"We have a world-class product here in Mayo, from our producers and chefs to our breathtaking landscapes, and we must continue to support and showcase it.
"The Taste of Inishturk initiative is a shining example of how communities can tell their story through food, culture and hospitality.”
The Agri-Food Tourism Investment Scheme is part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s efforts to support rural development, build stronger links between agriculture and tourism, and enhance visitor experiences across Ireland.
