Plans for new bedroom accommodation in former Mayo hotel

Ballinrobe Civic Arts & Amenity Company is lodging a planning application to Mayo County Council to allow internal reconfiguration of the former Valkenburg Hotel at Main Street in the town.

The works on the protected building consists of the provision of bedroom accommodation at ground, first and second floor levels.

It is part of a master plan by the company to develop a multi-purpose space to support the staging of major shows, along with community and other events throughout the complex.

Funding of €4.6 million was allocated by the government three years ago to transfer the town centre building to the highest of standards.
