Former Mayo councillor 'proud' of active travel scheme completion

A former elected member of Mayo County Council has expressed pride in the completion of Creggs Road Active Travel Scheme in Ballina, who has been officially opened.

Seamus Weir said he was honoured to play a role during his term in office in ensuring the project came to fruition.

He stated: "I believe a special word of praise needs to be extended to Mattie Moran and other landowners at the location for their co-operation and assistance when it was required.

"Without their support, it would not have been completed in such swift fashion and it's only right that they are acknowledged.

"I am delighted for everybody who will enjoy the long terms benefits of the scheme - particularly the children of Quay National School, staff and parents," he added.
