Rochford names Mayo team for Tyrone test in Omagh
Stephen Rochford and the Mayo management have announced their team to face Tyrone in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship round two clash this weekend.
There is one change to the starting 15 that played Cavan in round one two weeks ago as Rory Brickenden (Westport) replaces Sam Callinan (Ballina Stephenites).
The Mayo team is as follows: Colm Reape; Jack Coyne, Donnacha McHugh, Rory Brickenden; Stephen Coen, David McBrien, Enda Hession; Dylan Thornton, Matthew Ruane; Jack Carney, Darren McHale, Jordan Flynn; Aidan O'Shea, Davitt Neary, Ryan O'Donoghue.
The subs are: Adrian Phillips, Bob Tuohy, Conal Dawson, Eoin O'Donoghue, Fenton Kelly, Fergal Boland, Frank Irwin, Paddy Durcan, Paul Towey, Sam Callinan, Sean Morahan.
Stephen Coen will captain the team on the day, with David Coldrick from Meath named as the official in charge of proceedings. The game throws in at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) in O'Neills Healy Park, Omagh. It will be streamed on GAA + and covered live on Midwest Radio with commentary from Michael D. Mayo and Tyrone have met on six previous occasions in the championship, with their first coming in the 1989 All-Ireland semi-final and their most recent in the 2021 All-Ireland final. Mayo have won four of those meetings – in 1989, 2004, 2013 and 2016 – while Tyrone were victorious in 2008 and 2021. Interestingly, all six meetings were played in Croke Park.
