A spellbinding display by Geesala helped propel the north Mayo school to a cherished county title at MacHale Park, winning by 2-9 to 0-1 over Carramore N.S.

Geesala crafted numerous goal-scoring opportunities during the opening moments of this clash, with Jayden Cosgrove, Cathal Barrett Carty, and Liam Cosgrove, all going close to rippling the back of Dylan Burke’s net.

The sky blues persistence through was rewarded when Cathal Barrett Carty’s audacious chip nestled in the back of the net, much to the delight of the vocal Kiltane supporters.

Liam Cosgrove quickly added a single for Geesala, before his team-mate Oisín Cosgrove also chipped in with a three-pointer.

Carramore tried their very best to notch a score during the opening half, but they could find no way past a cordon of Geesala defenders and the Swinford side trailed 2-2 to no score during the half-time break.

On the resumption, the sky blues could have been out of sight, however, the Swinford custodian Dylan Burke produced a fine reflex save to deny Oisín Cosgrove a certain goal.

A flurry of points from Geesala’s Barrett Carty, Oisin Cosgrove, Oliver Barrett, and Liam Cosgrove, helped garner an unassailable lead for the north Mayo side.

To credit, a plucky Carramore refused to give up the chase and they managed to acquire a score towards the end of the game when Sean Doyle’s free forced the umpire to reach for the white flag.
