Top Mayo club to host Longford Town in FAI Senior Cup

Elverys Sport Super League and Connaught Cup champions Castlebar Celtic will play League of Ireland First Division outfit Longford Town in the second round of FAI Senior Men's Cup.

Celtic manager Stevie Gavin will face his former club as the 'Hoops face their toughest test in recent history as they are drawn against the midlands side in the second round of the prestigious cup competition.

The Hoops' comfortably dispatched North End United of Wexford in the first round and their reward is a clash at home against a struggling Longford Town, placed 9th in the League of Ireland First Division.

Ireland international Robbie Brady and FAI President Paul Cooke pulled the names out of the hat to present a tantalising clash for the top team in Connaught junior football.

The ties will be played on week ending July 20 with Celtic hosting the game at Celtic Park.
