A swashbuckling first half display by Tourmakeady left their opponents, St. Brendan's N.S., Kilmeena, facing a 10 point half-time deficit.

The Gaeltacht side dominated proceedings from the outset and points from Pádraic O’hÉanacháin, C. J. Breathnach, and Dara O’Cualáin, were significantly boosted by a major from James O’Doláin.

The busy Pádraic O’hÉanacháin then added a second goal for the black and white, with James O’Doláin’s late first half point ensuring a commanding 2-4 to no score interval lead for the Gaeltacht school.

St. Brendan’s made a positive start to the new half courtesy of a superb goal from James Hastings, much to the delight of the vocal Kilmeena supporters.

However, Kilmeena’s hopes of a second half comeback were dashed as Tourmakeady’s sharp-shooting forward C. J. Breathnach netted an incredible hat-trick of goals during four minutes for the Gaeltacht side, which mustered an unassailable 5-5 to 1-0 lead for the black and white.

St. Brendan’s were brave for the remainder of the game and their work-rate and endeavour was rewarded when Jay Joyce and Joe Durkan netted late consolation goals.

Final score: S.N. Tourmakeady 5-7, St. Brendan’s National School 3-5
