Mayo grieves passing of 'wonderful character' Willie Nolan
The death of William (Willie) Nolan, formerly of Kenton, Harrow, England, and late of Currane, Achill, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss.
He died peacefully on Thursday at Cuan Chaitríona Nursing Home, Castlebar.
Beloved son of the late Ted and Bridgie Nolan, he was much loved brother of Cathy, Eamonn, Michael and Mary.
He will also be sorely missed by all his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and all his extended family.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
In a tribute, friends and staff of Western Care's Vocational Training Centre in Castlebar stated: "We have such cherished memories of Willie who was the life and soul of the V.T.C for many years.
"His wonderful character endeared us all. He will always be remembered and forever hold a place in our hearts."
Friends and staff at Garryduff, Castlebar, said: "We will treasure the memories of love, laughter and ‘good craic’ we had with him during his years in Garryduff. He truly was one of life's great characters."
The deceased was closely associated with The Connaught Telegraph for many years, having spent happy times at the newspaper on his work experience days.
The management and staff of the newspaper have extended their deepest sympathy to the Nolan family on the death of Willie, 'a much loved colleague and friend'.
A further tribute posted online observed: "Remembering especially his great love of life and how much he enjoyed to be amongst family and friends."
Reposing at his residence at Bolinglanna, Currane, until 5 p.m. today (Saturday).
Removal to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, Currane, takes place tomorrow (Sunday) at 5.30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 midday on Monday prior to burial in Polranny Cemetery.
