Fire outbreak at former Mayo bakery set to be investigated

Members of Mayo Fire Services have been attending the scene of a blaze at a former bakery located at Knockthomas in Castlebar.

A number of units are involved in bringing the fire under control at the building which has been vacant for a number of years.

An investigation will be conducted into the cause of the outbreak.

Members of An Garda Siochána are also at the scene.

The site in question is the subject of a planning application for a significant housing development.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
