€700,000 boost for social housing in Mayo - Minister Dillon
Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has announced almost €700,000 in funding to improve Mayo’s social housing stock, with a focus on older people, individuals with disabilities, and overcrowded households.
A total of €697,672 has been allocated to Mayo County Council as part of a nationwide €23 million scheme. An additional 10% local authority contribution of €77,519 will also support the initiative.
“This funding will help improve housing conditions for older tenants and those with disabilities, while also tackling overcrowding,” Minister Dillon said.
The scheme, known as the Disabled Persons Grant, provides for essential home adaptations such as stair-lifts, ramps, wet rooms, and even full extensions where required.
“These grants are very important for meeting the needs of local authority tenants and those awaiting social housing in Mayo and play a key role in enabling people with disabilities to continue living autonomously,” concluded Minister Dillon.
