Death of retired Mayo garda officer Padraic Connolly

The death of Padraic Connolly, Maryland, Castlebar, and formerly of Wellpark, Miltown, Co. Galway, is widely mourned in the community.

A retired member of An Garda Siochána, he died peacefully at Abbeybreaffy Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.

Warm tributes are being paid to him on social media where he was described as 'a great neighbour and always very helpful'.

He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Evelyn (neé McHale, Pulgloss, Louisburgh), family Maria, Deirdre, Aidan, Brian, Eimer and Declan, sons-in-law and daughters-in -law, brother Brendan (Cork), sister Teresa Farrelly (Kells), his adored grandchildren Laurna, Karen, Anna, Claudia, Sarah, Brian, Leah, Carla, Ross, Orlaith and Paddy, great-grandaughter Clara, nephews, nieces, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

Padraic was predeceased by his parents Martin and Nora, brothers Tom, Joe and Miko, sister Mary and his aunt Mairead.

Padraic will repose at The Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Thursday from 5.30 until 7 p.m. with removal to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy.

Requiem Mass takes place on Friday at 12 noon prior to interment in Breaffy Cemetery.
