Mayo drama group host All-Ireland celebrations

SAINT Patrick's Drama Group hosted a special day of celebration on June 8.

The group gathered to celebrate its 60th anniversary and also its most recent win at the ACDI All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals 2025.

The group enjoyed refreshments and live music, provided by the talented Nicole Gannon. Later, she was joined by members of St. Patrick's Drama Group who made the afternoon so special with live singing performances.

The cast and crew of the national title-winning production Woman and Scarecrow were thanked for their dedication and talent and a shared pride was felt in the room.

Presentations were made to the individual winners - Alannah Ní Mhíocháin for Best Actress, Séamas Cafferkey for Best Director and Jamie O'Neill for Best Lighting.

The group was honoured to be joined by special guests from the Westport community to celebrate - Micheal Ring, Deputy Keira Keogh, Councillor Chris Maxwell, Councillor Peter Flynn, Fr. Tony King and Fr. John Kenny.

Liz Browne, chairperson, delivered a wonderful speech to mark the occasion and all were delighted to hear words from Michael Ring and Keira Keogh.

The St. Patrick's Drama Group committee would like to extend a very big thank you for the Westport community members, the cast and crew of Woman and Scarecrow and to members, past and present, who joined them with their friends and family.

The group look forward to another year ahead of productions, which are due to kick off again in autumn.
