Mayo mountain rescue called to aid injured walker on Nephin Beg Range
Members of the Mayo Mountain Rescue Team were called into action on Sunday afternoon after a woman sustained a suspected broken wrist while walking in a remote part of the Nephin mountain range.
The incident occurred around 2.30 p.m. on the Glendahurk Horseshoe, a challenging and isolated section of the range.
The woman, who was part of a guided group, was treated at the scene by rescue personnel before being assisted down the mountain.
The rescue operation concluded at 8 p.m., with the team extending their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured walker.
In a statement, Mayo Mountain Rescue Team highlighted the importance of public support in maintaining their vital voluntary service. They are calling on the public to nominate the group for the AIB €1 Million Community Fund 2025.
