Dowling sisters make big Town mark in Mayo League table topping triumph

The Dowling sisters made their mark in last night's table topping win for Castlebar Town against Manulla in the Mayo Women's League.

Town hit six goals to Manulla's three at Carrowmore to open up a three-point advantage at the top of the Eco Powered Cabinets Mayo Women's League Premier Division.

The name Dowling was on each of the Town goals - Louise with four (two from the penalty spot) and Cliodhna and Amy with one apiece.

The visitors were 3-0 up before Manulla registered their first score on the half-hour mark through Lauren McLellan.

Three penalties were tucked home in the second half by the 57th minute - Louise Dowling with two for Town, sandwiched in between a goal by Amy in the 52nd minute, and McLellan also from the spot for the home side.

This was a fast paced game, with every ball well contested. Throughout, both sides created chances, with the woodwork taking a few knocks, but from once Town got into their rhythm they always looked good for the win.

Leading 6-2 with half an hour remaining, Town were comfortable as Manulla, with no subs to call on, probed to find a way through their defence. Their only success was via Anna Mae Clarke who scored just before the end.
