New proposal revealed for 47 homes on Mayo urban site

A PLANNING application has been submitted to Mayo County Council for the development of a new residential estate on the outskirts of Ballina.

The application, lodged on behalf of Thawside Ltd, seeks permission to construct a total of 47 houses at Friars Court, Laghtadawannagh, along the Killala Road.

The proposed development would comprise 32 three-bedroom semi-detached homes, six two-bedroom semi-detached units, and nine four-bedroom detached houses.

According to the submission, the scheme also includes all associated site development works and connection to public utilities.

The proposed estate is to be located in a growing residential area on the northern approach to Ballina, a region that has seen considerable housing interest in recent years due to its proximity to schools, amenities and employment.

The application is now with the planning authority, and submissions from members of the public or interested parties will be accepted in accordance with standard procedures.

If approved, the development would represent one of the larger residential schemes proposed in Ballina in recent times, offering a mix of housing types aimed at addressing local demand and helping to alleviate the growing housing demand in the town.
