Rescue 115 dispatched to Mayo after Croagh Patrick call-out

The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team was tasked yesterday by An Garda Síochána to assist a man who became unwell on the summit cone of Croagh Patrick.

Wisely, he called for help when he realised he couldn't continue his descent.

The first responders quickly located him halfway up the cone and provided emergency care.

The Coast Guard was called, and Rescue 115 was dispatched.

Meanwhile, a stretcher party and members of Westport Coast Guard made their way to the scene.

The Rescue 115 medic assessed the man and, with high-line support from the team, winched him aboard the helicopter for transport to Mayo University Hospital.

A huge thank you must go to the Coast Guard Services for their invaluable support. Mayo Mountain Rescue wishes the man a full and speedy recovery.

The MMRT team was stood down at 3.45 p.m.
