Sink hole appears on rural Mayo road

A large sink hole has appeared on a rural road outside Castlebar.

Councillor Ger Deere earlier alerted members of the public to the danger posed when travelling in the area.

The large sink hole appeared on the old Glenisland Road, just past the turn-off to the booster station on the Glenisland side.

It is approximately three feet wide and deep and Councillor Deere sealed it off with traffic cones, temporarily, as well as reporting it to the council for urgent repair.

In a social media post, he urged road users to exercise caution while travelling in the area until repairs are complete.
