Mayo apprentice a finalist in ESB Networks Apprentice Network Technician of the Year
Mayo native Seán Connolly reached the final of the ESB Networks Apprentice Network Technician of the Year 2025 competition.
The annual competition showcases six exceptional apprentices from ESB Networks’ Electrical Apprenticeship Programme, selected for their outstanding performance, dedication and potential.
The overall winner was Aoife Murphy from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. She was awarded the Shane Conlon Perpetual Award by Nicholas Tarrant, managing director of ESB Networks, following a high-pressure competition at ESB Networks' Training Centre in Portlaoise on June 26.
Along with Aoife and Seán, the other finalists were Daniel Ring (Co. Cork), Damien Moore (Co. Limerick), Patrick Connaughton (Co. Longford) and Wesley Gibbons (Co. Louth).
“As ESB Networks continues to deliver sustainable and reliable networks for Ireland as we move toward a net-zero future, technical skills such as those assessed in the competition are critical,” said Mr. Tarrant.
