Ronan Gibbons Memorial Cup match raises €7,510 for Croí
THE inaugural Ronan Gibbons Memorial Cup game between neighbours Shrule/Glencorrib and Caherlistrane, played at Shrule GAA pitch, has raised €7,510 for stroke and heart charity Croí.
The late Ronan was a well-liked figure in the local Shrule community, and he ran the popular T.J. Gibbons’ Bar in Shrule.
Ronan sadly passed away on Christmas Day 2022, after suffering a heart attack. His sudden death was a complete shock for his wife Lorraine, children Kelly and Michael, Ronan’s family, friends and community.
One of the key aims of the memorial cup match was to raise awareness about heart disease. There were no sponsors of the event and no admission fee into the game, and the organisers relied on the generosity of the public.
A total of €7,510 was raised from the fundraising match and all proceeds went to Croí.
The organisers would like to thank everybody who contributed to the event.
