Local launch of new book from Mayo author
MAYO author Marie O'Connor is launching her new book, Where All Roads Meet, on Saturday, July 12, at 5 p.m. at Castle Books, Castlebar.
“I’ll confess - I’m a complete sports nut,” says Turlough native Marie. “Watching, playing - if there’s a match on, I’m glued. And if I can get moving, I’m there.”
So, it’s no surprise that her latest heroine, Garda Caitlin Kennedy, in Where All Roads Meet, is just as active - jogging, playing camogie, and even rally driving.
And when a murder investigation takes a perilous turn, it leads her from the quiet lanes of Ballantur to the captivating olive groves of Sicily.
Author Marie grew up a tomboy in a house full of brothers. “Whatever the lads were doing - mud, matches, mayhem - I was in the thick of it.” That energy still fuels her today. She cycles to work, goes to the gym, and runs 10ks most weekends.
She’s hiked Croagh Patrick (twice), tackled trails across Ireland, walked the Camino, and explored Croatia on foot. “They say climb Croagh Patrick three times, and you get into heaven. I’ve got one foot in the door!”
Off the trails and the page, Marie’s into wellbeing, nutrition, and skincare. And her spirit runs through her fiction. With Caitlin Kennedy leading the charge, Where All Roads Meet brims with energy, heart - and lived experience.
Having worked as a window dresser for a leading Irish retailer and as a digital editor in television, being creative every day was literally part of Marie's job.
Having grown up in the countryside in Mayo, Marie spent several years living in Dublin but is now living and working in Galway City.
