Former Mayo pharmacist mourned
THE death has occurred of Michael 'Dykes' Treacy, formerly of Turlough Road, Castlebar.
A former pharmacist in Newport and Castlebar, he is being fondly remembered as a gentleman who always had time for a chat and was great fun.
Michael was helpful and knowledgable in his dealings with people and his kind, warm nature was always appreciated.
He died after a short illness surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of Rushmore Nursing Home, Knocknacarra, Galway.
Beloved husband of Pauline and dedicated dad to Terri, Bree and Catherine, he will be sadly missed by his family, sons-in-law Robert, Ray and Owen, grandchildren David, Anna, Lucy, Méabh, Gráinne, Eoghan and Dáire, brother Tom, sisters Mary Hennessy and Anne O’Higgins, sister-in-law Kay, brothers-in-law Michael and the late Padraic, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and his former colleagues and customers in Newport, to whom sympathy is extended.
Michael will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. Removal from Coady’s Funeral Home on Friday morning at 10.45 a.m for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Michael will be laid to rest afterwards in Castlebar Old Cemetery.
