Crews working to repair water burst affecting wide part of central Mayo

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst water main which is impacting supply to a number of areas surrounding Castlebar.

Customers in Balla, Mayo Abbey, Islandeady, Snugboro, Breaffy, Ross and the Newport Road outside Castlebar may be experiencing intermittent outages or disruptions to their supply this afternoon. Supply to Castlebar town itself is not affected.

Specialist crews are working to repair the burst main and it is anticipated that repairs will be complete and supply will return to normal levels later this afternoon.

Colette Scahill, Uisce Éireann’s water network operations manager for Mayo, has assured affected customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue."
