Water supply returning to normal levels in Mayo after successful repairs

Water supply is returning to normal levels in areas of south and east Mayo this evening following the successful repair of a major burst on a trunk main from the Lough Mask Treatment Plant.

The burst impacted customers in parts of Castlebar, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Knock, Ballyhaunis, Kilmaine, Cong and Barnacarroll, as well as the areas of Williamstown, Granlahan and Cloonfad in Roscommon.

Following the successful repair of the burst, supply is now returning to the network. It will take time for the network to fully recharge and some customers, particularly those on higher ground or at the end of the network, may not have full supply restored until Friday morning.

Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill thanked affected customers for their understanding while repairs were underway.

She said: “This was a complex burst on a major trunk main which required significant repair work. Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out.

“We wish to thank our crews on the ground for their efforts in getting the main repaired and the supply returned to normal.”
