Protest planned at Uisce Éireann offices over Mayo sewerage plant delay

UISCE Éireann offices in Mayo are to be picketed over the ongoing delays around the Newport sewerage treatment plant.

A protest will take place this Monday (July 14) at 11 a.m. at the Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) corporate office in Castlebar, at the N5 Business Park.

The protest will be led by west Mayo councillors, elected representatives, Newport Sewage Concern Group and members of the Newport community to highlight the non delivery of the much promised Newport sewerage plant.

A letter will be handed in to the Uisce Éireann offices.

Councillor Brendan Mulroy has urged people to turn up and support the Newport community on Monday.

He said: “Enough is enough. It is way past time for delivery of this treatment plant.”
