West Mayo mourns passing of popular personality Frank Gill
WESTPORT has lost a gentleman and a great character with the passing of Frank Gill of Upper Carrowbeg and Horkan's Hill.
Friends have been recalling the fun and craic enjoyed growing up on the Hill as tributes pour in for a much loved local personality.
Frank made an impression on everyone he met and the world has lost a true gent who always had time for a chat and always with a smile on his face.
Among those paying tribute, local councillor Brendan Mulroy said: “RIP my friend. We had many a great day in our childhoods on the hill. A lot of great memories.
“Our deepest sympathies to all your family. RIP Frank.”
Predeceased by his father Frank, brother Noel and brother-in-law Petie, Frank will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his children Shona (Ryan), Dylan, Levi and Noel and their mother Bernie, his mother Bernie, sister Caroline, brother Padraic (Christin), sister-in-law Sindy, his nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends, to whom smypathy is extended on their great loss.
Frank will repose at his home at Upper Carrowbeg on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Arriving to St. Mary's Church, Westport, on Tuesday at 10.30 a.m. for funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
