Busy week for Mayo Mountain Rescue with third call-out on Croagh Patrick
MAYO Mountain Rescue has had a busy week.
Saturday saw the team called out to their third incident this past week on Croagh Patrick.
At 4 p.m., An Garda Síochána tasked the team to assist a woman who had sustained a significant leg injury after a fall while descending the mountain with two friends.
The first response team located the woman on the track, about halfway down the mountain and just below the shoulder, and provided immediate emergency care.
Meanwhile, the stretcher party was making their way up the mountain, with Coastguard Rescue 118 helicopter also en route to assist. They were diverted to the mountain while on their way back to their Sligo base, having completed a mission on the Aran Islands.
R118 landed near the casualty, and their medic provided further treatment before the woman was stretchered to the helicopter and brought to Mayo University Hospital.
