Mayo GAA club championships fixture details revealed

Mayo GAA have confirmed fixture details for the first two rounds of this year's senior, intermediate and junior football championships.

Defending senior champions Ballina Stephenites will have home advantage for their opening Group 1 game against Ballyhaunis on Sunday, August 10, while Crossmolina Deel Rovers – winners of the Mayo, Connacht and All-Ireland intermediate titles last season – will commence their campaign with a trip to Garrymore the same day. Both games are scheduled to throw in at 3 p.m.

Group 2 commences on Friday, August 8, with the meeting of Aghamore and league high-fliers Breaffy (7 p.m.) in east Mayo.

The following day (Saturday, August 9), Castlebar Mitchels – also among the favourites for overall honours – host Belmullet, with a throw-in time of 7 p.m.

Group 3 also has a Friday night game as Ballintubber host Charlestown (7 p.m.), while the meeting of Ballaghaderreen and Claremorris will take place on the Saturday, throwing in at 7 p.m.

Finally, Group 4 will start off with the meeting of Westport and Mayo Gaels in Westport at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 9. Balla will have home advantage against Knockmore the following day (Sunday, August 10). The game has a 3 p.m. throw-in time.

The round two games will be played over the weekend of August 22/23/24.

The Group 1 game involving Ballyhaunis and Garrymore will be played on Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. in Ballyhaunis.

The big clash between last year's senior and intermediate champions, neighbours Ballina and Crossmolina, will be played in St. Tiernan's Park (Crossmolina) on Saturday, August 24, at 3.30 p.m.

There's another big local derby in Group 2 taking place on Friday, August 22, as Breaffy host Mitchels, starting at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Belmullet will have home advantage when they face Aghamore on Sunday, August 24 (3.30 p.m.).

Claremorris host Ballintubber in the first of Group 3's round two encounters, with the game throwing in at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23. The following day, Charlestown welcome neighbours Ballaghaderreen to town for their second round clash. The game will commence at 3 p.m.

Finally, in Group 4, another derby between Mayo Gaels and Balla will be played in the former's grounds at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23. On Sunday, August 24, Knockmore host Westport at 1 p.m.

Connacht Gold are the sponsors of the Mayo Senior Football Championship.

Elsewhere, the Egan Jewellers Mayo Intermediate Football Championship commences on Friday, August 8, as Ardnaree travel to Lahardane in Group 1 for a 7 p.m. throw-in. In the same group, Ballinrobe host Castlebar Mitchels B on Sunday, August 10, at 12.30 p.m.

The teams that suffered relegation from the senior and promotion from the junior last year, Kilmeena and Cill Chomáin respectively, are both in Group 2 of his year's intermediate championship. The 2024 junior champions, Cill Chomáin, will start their campaign with a home game in Glenamoy against The Neale (2 p.m. on Sunday, August 10), while Kilmeena will also have home advantage in round one as they welcome neighbours Burrishoole for a 7.15 p.m. throw-in on Saturday, August 9.

Group 3 commences on Friday, August 8, as Islandeady host Davitts from 7 p.m. Two days later (Sunday, August 10), Parke entertain Kiltane at 12.30 p.m. in central Mayo.

Moy Davitts, last year's intermediate runners-up and the only team to inflict a championship defeat on Crossmolina (during the group stages), host Kilmaine at 12.30 p.m. on Sunday, August 10. The day before (Saturday, August 9), Louisburgh welcome Hollymount to the seaside for a 5 p.m. throw-in.

In round two, Ardnaree welcome Ballinrobe to Ballina on Saturday, August 23, for their round two fixture in Group 1. Throw-in is at 5 p.m.

Castlebar Mitchels B will also have home advantage for their second round game against Lahardane. The fixture is set to take place on Sunday, August 24, at 1 p.m.

The Neale kick off Group 2's round two action on Friday, August 22, as they entertain Kilmeena from 7 p.m. On Sunday, August 24, Burrishoole and Cill Chomáin meet in Newport at 3.30 p.m.

Davitts play Parke in Ballindine at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 22, to get Group 3's round two fixtures started, while Kiltane welcome Islandeady to Bangor on Sunday, August 24, with the game to commence at 1 p.m.

Finally, in Group 4, Kilmaine and Louisburgh meet in Kilmaine at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23. The following day (Sunday, August 24), Hollymount/Carramore welcome Moy Davitts to 'the Saucer' for a 1 p.m. throw-in time.

The Treanlaur Catering Junior A Championship commences on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Group 1 is a five-team group and the round one fixtures are as follows (first named teams at home): Killala v Ardagh, Friday, August 1 (7 p.m.), Bonniconlon v Ballycastle, Saturday, August 2 (7 p.m.).

The first round games in the other groups will be played over the second weekend in August, as follows: Group 2 – Kilmovee v Kiltimagh, Friday, August 8 (7 p.m.), Tourmakeady v Northers Gaels, Saturday, August 9 (5 p.m.); Group 3 – Achill v Eastern Gaels, Sunday, August 10 (2 p.m.), Swinford v Shrule/Glencorrib, Sunday, August 10 (3 p.m.).

Round two games in Group 1 will also be played over the second weekend in August. The fixtures are (first named teams at home): Ballycroy v Bonniconlon, Sunday, August 10 (12.30 p.m.), Ballycastle v Killala (Saturday, August 9, 7 p.m.).

The other round two games, to be played later in the month, are as follows (first named teams at home): Group 2 – Kiltimagh v Tourmakeady, Sunday, August 24 (3 p.m.), Northern Gaels v Kilmovee, Saturday, August 23 (7 p.m.); Group 3 – Eastern Gaels v Swinford, Sunday, August 24 (12.30 p.m.), Shrule/Glencorrib v Achill, Sunday, August 24 (1 p.m.).

The third round games in the senior, intermediate and junior championships will be played at neutral venues (exact fixture details to follow).
