Exciting Under 16 boys basketball tournament in north Mayo
As part of the Balina Salmon Festival, Ballina Braves will be host an Under 16 boys basketball tournament this Saturday, July 19, starting at 10 a.m. at Ballina Community Sports Centre.
Four teams will be competing in games of six-minute quarters, so the programme will be a bit like the basketball, hopefully – fast and furious.
The boys Under 16 grade has been one of the big improvers in recent years, with some very good talent emerging.
Included in the line-up is a visiting team from the Berkeley Wolves club in Kilkenny, while Ballintubber Bulls and Castlebar Comets will also be taking part along with the host club, Ballina Braves.
The first game at 10 a.m. sees Ballina Braves take on Ballintubber Bulls, followed by Castlebar Comets against Berkeley Wolves.
Following that it's Berkeley Wolves versus Ballintubber Bulls, while Ballina Braves take on Berkeley Wolves before neighbours Castlebar Comets and Ballintubber Bulls face off in the final game at 2 p.m.
The standard of Under 16 basketball is up there with the best and your support woud be very much appreciated by the Ballina Braves club, who are already returning to training ahead of the new season, which commences in August.
