Westportif leisure cycle raises funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice

THE Westportif cycle, which starts and finishes in Westport every year, was once again delighted to partner with the Mayo Roscommon Hospice as their charity partner for this year's Westportif.

The hospice is an essential charity, providing free, specialist palliative care to individuals and families across Mayo and Roscommon.

Pictured at the recent cheque presentation, Deirdre Clarke, from the organising committee and main event sponsor representative from Portwest, said: “We’re proud to support the Mayo Roscommon Hospice and to help support the incredible work they do in our region. Partnering with Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation gives real purpose to this event, with every euro donated going towards supporting people in our region when they need it most.”

Audrey Duffy of Mayo Roscommon Hospice expressed gratitude for the donation: “We are deeply thankful to the Westportif team and all the participants for their incredible effort and generosity. These funds will help us continue to provide essential care and comfort to patients and families across Mayo and Roscommon, both in our hospice units and through our home care services.”

Westportif is an annual leisure cycle event and has attracted thousands of cyclists to Mayo since it was first established in 2012. Preparations are already well under way for next year's event.
