Mayo athlete selected to represent Ireland in European finals

Jake O'Brien, a member of Moy Valley AC, Ballina, has been selected to represent Ireland at the European Under-23 Track and Field Championships in Bergen, Norway, this weekend.

He will be the club's first representative to compete in the event.

Jake missed out on the European Under-18 Championships due to Covid, so this is a richly deserved international selection.

He has worked extremely hard all year to achieve the required qualification standards, and all in Moy Valley AC will be routing for him on race day.

Jake races on Sunday at 11.10 a.m. local time.

A past pupil of St Gerald's College and Ballyvary National School, he started his athletics career with Castlebar AC.
