New lease of life for north Mayo filling station as major investment announced

A well-known Ballina business premises is set for a major transformation following the acquisition of Judges Shop and Filling Station on the Sligo Road in Ballina.

The sale was officially completed today, with refurbishment works scheduled to commence this Monday, July 21.

The project, which involves a significant upgrade of both the shop and forecourt, represents a total investment of €2.3 million.

The venture is being spearheaded by Bryan, Edel, and John Moloney, familiar faces in the Ballina business community, the Moloney family currently run and operate a Supervalu supermarket in Bunree, Ballina.

The revamped premises will operate under the Centra brand, Ireland’s leading convenience retail chain, which boasts more than 480 outlets nationwide.

Centra, part of the Musgrave Group, is well known for its quality, value, and friendly customer service.

Fuel services will be provided by Maxol, another Irish household name, with over 100 years of history in the forecourt and fuel retail sector.

News of the acquisition has been warmly welcomed locally. Senator Mark Duffy took to social media to extend his congratulations, saying: “Congratulations Moloney SuperValu on their next venture.

This will be a great addition for the Sligo Road area. The Moloney family are a great employer and supporter of clubs, community groups and organisations in the area.
