New documentary on Mary Robinson.

Documentary on Mayo's Mary Robinson coming to RTÉ this week

A new documentary titled Mrs Robinson is coming to RTÉ this coming Wednesday July 23 at 9.35 p.m., on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.

This documentary is a fresh look at the life and legacy of Ireland’s first woman president, particularly relevant at the moment in the run-up to the presidential election in autumn 2025.

It reveals Mary Robinson’s story in her own words for the first time.

From her beginnings in Mayo, she developed a strong sense of social justice, and went on to become president at the age of 46.

The documentary shows her impact not just in Ireland but on the world stage as UN High Commissioner and later as Chair of the Elders, the independent group of global leaders (founded by Nelson Mandela) who work for peace, justice, and human rights.

Mrs Robinson is a Loosehorse production, which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2024 followed by a general release in cinemas in August 2024.
