Mayo to feature in Moving West series on TG4
TG4, in partnership with the Western Development Commission (WDC), has announced the return of its acclaimed series Moving West for a much-anticipated fourth season, hosted by the broadcaster Mary Kennedy.
Produced by Dundara Television and Media this year, the spotlight shines on seven vibrant counties in the west and northwest of Ireland.
The counties featured are Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Mayo, Roscommon, Galway and Clare, celebrating the rich tapestry of their heritage, the strength of their communities, and the bold innovation driving their future.
Following three successful seasons, the series continues to highlight the people and projects shaping life across the west of Ireland, from community-driven initiatives and cultural preservation, to pioneering rural enterprises and forward-thinking solutions to regional challenges.
Moving West is grounded in the personal journeys of those who have chosen the West and are helping to shape it in return.
“Across the west and northwest, communities are stepping up with passion, pride and creativity to shape a vibrant future rooted in place,” said Allan Mulrooney, CEO of the Western Development Commission. “We are proud to support a series that not only celebrates these incredible efforts but also inspires others to see the potential in their own localities.”
TG4 and the WDC are now inviting individuals, groups, organisations and businesses from Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Mayo, Roscommon, Galway and Clare to apply to be featured in season four.
They are especially interested in the stories of movers, those who’ve chosen to build a life here, bringing energy and perspective to our towns and communities.
Whether you are revitalising your local heritage, leading a community project, driving innovation in a rural enterprise, or building a better future through creativity and collaboration, your story matters and Moving West wants to help tell it.
The focus of the series is on people who have moved and become integral parts of their local communities.
“This series is a heartfelt celebration of the people and places that make Ireland’s western counties so special,” said Mary Kennedy. “I’m honoured to return as host and to share these uplifting stories of resilience, pride, and creativity.”
Enda Grace, producer and director of Moving West, said: "We are delighted to return with season 4. Every year we’re inspired by the people we meet, from returners discovering their roots, to families starting fresh and entrepreneurs building something new. We’re looking for stories that are personal, powerful and full of hope for what life in the west can be.”
Those wishing to apply to feature in series 4 or who would like to nominate someone are asked to visit here.
The deadline to apply is Friday, August 15, at 5 p.m.
This series is proudly supported by TG4, Western Development Commission, and Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht with Dundara Media Productions, all working together to amplify the voices and visions of Ireland’s western communities.
