Major north Mayo housing project under appeal
PLANS for a 50-unit housing development in north Mayo have been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The site location is at Bohernasup, Ballina, and a mix of house types were granted planning by Mayo County Council, a decision now under appeal.
The proposed works include the extension of existing pedestrian and vehicular access to Lansyn Bohernasup.
The site is one kilometre from Ballina town centre and forms part of an existing established housing development, Lansyn.
A number of third party submissions raised concerns with council planners, including overlooking, density and housing mix, potential for damage to Belleek Castle wall during construction, and vehicular access through Lansyn.
During the planning process, the number of houses proposed was reduced from 52 to 50, with the council granting permission subject to a number of conditions.
The case is due to be decided by the appeals board by mid November.
