Mayo hospital delighted with donation from its local Rotary club
St. Joseph's Unit, the dedicated stroke rehabilitation unit at the Sacred Heart Home in Castlebar, has received a significant upgrade in patient care with the presentation of a scanner, generously donated by Rotary Castlebar.
This essential piece of equipment was purchased using funds raised during the club’s Stroke Awareness Day earlier this year.
Walter Donoghue, a member of Rotary Castlebar, expressed the club’s pride in supporting local healthcare initiatives.
“We are delighted to present such a valuable piece of equipment for the care of the patients in the Saint Josephs unit. It is gratifying to see the community come together to make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
"The success of the Stroke Awareness Day would not have been possible without the incredible support of local partners.
"A special thank you is extended to Supervalu Castlebar for generously allowing the use of their premises for the fundraising event.
"Their cooperation was instrumental in making the event accessible and welcoming to the public.
"Gratitude is also owed to the doctors from Mayo University Hospital and the Murray Ambulance Services, whose expert assistance and presence provided vital support on the day.
"Their dedication helped ensure the event’s smooth running and effectiveness in raising awareness and funds for stroke care."
This collaborative effort between Rotary Castlebar, local businesses, healthcare professionals, and the community stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when people unite for a common cause.
The addition of this scanner will significantly enhance the diagnostic capabilities and overall care for patients at the St. Joseph's stroke rehabilitation unit, reinforcing the community’s commitment to health and wellbeing.
