Move to outlaw clamping in Mayo following complaints
A move is being made to outlaw the clamping of vehicles in Mayo.
Councillor Michael Kilcoyne has tabled a motion for the next week's meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District seeking the introduction of a bye-law to outlaw clamping.
He has asked that the draft bye-law be circulated in advance of the September meeting.
Councillor Kilcoyne is raising the matter after complaints were made to him about the matter.
In other motions, Councillor Harry Barrett is calling on the council to put in place a Habitat Management Plan, to facilitate the drawdown of any future funding required to enhance and restore the Castlebar Town river, Lough Lannagh and associated waterways.
He also wants the authority to identify and compile a list of all available commercial properties in the Castlebar area, including both turn-key premises or zoned sites suitable for immediate use and larger or strategic sites with potential for future zoning and business expansion.
Councillor Barrett wants to make this information readily available to business interests and agencies who are seeking to attract inward investment or support expansion into Castlebar from overseas firms.
