Civic reception for former Mayo TD

FORMER Mayo TD Michael Ring is being honoured in his home town.

The Westport-Belmullet Municipal District is hosting a civic reception in his honour this evening (Friday) in Westport Town Hall to acknowledge his contribution to the county as a whole and his local community.

Ring served on Westport Urban District Council as well as Mayo County Council before going on to give stellar service to the county as a Dáil deputy.

He announced his retirement from public life a year ago, after 45 years of loyal service, bowing out at the general election.
