New veterinary practice a first for Mayo town
A new veterinary practice is opening in Balla - the town's first-ever veterinary practice.
Farm Vets Balla has announced it is to open on August 5.
The practice is located on the grounds of Western Farming Co-op store in Lognamuck and will offer a 24-hour service for farm animals across the region.
Independently owned and operated by Shane McCarvill - a passionate farmer and vet, the practice is dedicated exclusively to farm animals, including cattle, sheep, horses and donkeys.
Conveniently situated on the N60, the main road between Castlebar and Claremorris, the practice’s office will be open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, mirroring the co-op’s current opening hours which are: Monday-Friday (9 a.m. - 6 p.m. - closed from 1-2 p.m. for lunch), and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (doesn’t close for lunch).
Emergency cover will be provided outside of these hours also, during evenings, nights and weekends.
The practice is 10 minutes from Castlebar and 15 minutes from Claremorris and will serve beyond these areas.
The practice will provide a full range of veterinary services, including routine and emergency animal care, herd health planning, and TB testing services.
Care will be provided to farm animals - including cattle and sheep and equine.
Farm Vets Balla has recently received official accreditation and approval from the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI), the regulatory body that ensures the highest standards in veterinary practice in the country.
Following a thorough inspection process, this approval confirms that the practice meets all professional, ethical and operational requirements to deliver safe, effective and high-quality veterinary care.
