German TV show films at locations in Mayo

Filming for an episode of a popular German travel TV show called Wunderschön has been taking place at various locations along the Wild Atlantic Way, with production supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The special Ireland episode will air on WDR, a public TV network in Germany, showcasing our fantastic outdoor experiences, breathtaking landscapes and warm hospitality to millions of viewers in Germany.

In Co. Mayo, the TV crew filmed at numerous locations, including a walk with Irish Wolfhounds along Bertra Beach, Achill Island and Westport House.

Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Germany Manager, said: “We were delighted to invite the crew from Wunderschön to come and film on our beautiful island. It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the landscapes, experiences and characters which make Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way such a great place to visit.

“Our aim is to inspire viewers of the show to come and experience Ireland for themselves. Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity to inspire travellers about what Ireland has to offer for a holiday in 2025 and beyond.”
