Mayo braces for storm Floris as weather warnings issued

Mayo is on alert as Storm Floris moves in from the Atlantic, bringing the potential for damaging winds, power outages, and travel disruption early on Bank Holiday Monday.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Wind Warning for Mayo, Galway, Clare and Sligo, warning of very strong and blustery southwest winds, later shifting westerly, with some damaging gusts expected.

The warning is valid from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, August 5, covering the early hours of the morning and much of the daytime.

Possible Impacts include: Dangerous travelling condition, disruption to outdoor events, structural damage, fallen trees, debris and loose objects, power outages, and wave overtopping along coastal areas

Locals are being urged to secure outdoor items and take extra caution if travelling during the warning period.
