Mayo gardaí seize uninsured vehicle whose reverse gear didn't work
THE garda August bank holiday weekend road safety campaign has resulted in a number of offence detections in Mayo.
One vehicle that tried to avoid a garda checkpoint was stopped, with the driver found to have no driving licence or insurance, while vehicle also had no working reverse gear.
The vehicle was seized at the scene and court proceedings will follow.
Mayo Roads Policing Unit have been carrying out speed checkpoints throughout Mayo, with one motorcyclist found travelling at 130kph in a 100kph zone issued with a fixed charge penalty notice consisting of three penalty points and a €160 fine.
The message to all road users is to 'think safety' this bank holiday.
