Repairs to burst water main in Mayo county town this morning

UISCE Éireann crews are working to repair a burst water main which is affecting supply to customers in the Moneen area of Castlebar this morning.

The unplanned outage is affecting homes and businesses along the northern side of the Moneen Road, including the N5 Business Park, Cedar House, Roadstone and the Castlebar Primary Care Centre.

Crews have been on site since early this morning. It is estimated that repairs will be complete by 3 p.m. this afternoon (Tuesday).

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” she said.
