Corrib-Mask rescue team assist boat taking on water on lake

CORRIB Mask Search and Rescue launched yesterday afternoon to assist a boat taking on water close to Inchagoill Island on Lough Corrib.

The team was tasked at 3.50 p.m. on Tuesday by the Irish Coast Guard, launching two boats from Lisloughrey Pier in Cong.

All people on board the vessel were successfully transferred back to shore and the crew then returned to tow the boat back also.

The Corrib/Mask team thanked the local fisherman who assisted on scene and their colleagues in Rescue 115.

They reported on their social media: 'A successful outcome thankfully and mainly due to them making an early call to 999 and asking for the coastguard.

'We thank our volunteers who as always responded so promptly and professionally to the call.'
