No interviews held for Mayo GAA job despite misleading social media reports
A WhatsApp message doing the rounds of Mayo GAA circles in recent days has been slammed as unfounded.
It falsely claimed that Tony McEntee, the favourite to replace Kevin McStay as the new manager of the Mayo senior football squad, had been unsuccessful at the interview stage and that former star Andy Moran would be officially appointed within the coming days.
It has now been confirmed by a member of the county board that interviews will not take place until next week at the earliest.
This is because of number of members of the interview panel are on holidays.
So, as of now, Tony McEntee remains favourite to get the Mayo job, with Andy Moran his closest challenger.
