One Mayo player makes Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Team of the Year

The 2025 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Team of the Year includes one player from beaten semi-finalists Mayo.

Westport's Ben Holmes is named in the right corner forward position in a team dominated by players from champions Tyrone and runners-up Kerry.

Between them, Tyrone and Kerry account for 13 of the 15 spots on the selection, with just Holmes and Roscommon's Dara Curran getting a look-in besides.

Tyrone players take seven places, reflecting their championship victory, while Kerry have six representatives on the squad.

Tyrone’s Peter Colton has been named this year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year. The Fintona Pearses player was a pivotal figure in Tyrone’s championship success, showcasing exceptional leadership and scoring prowess throughout the campaign. His crucial penalty in the final and his composure in key moments were instrumental in securing the title for Tyrone.

Mayo were runners-up to Roscommon the Connacht campaign but defeated Leinster champions Offaly in the All-Ireland quarterfinal. In the semi-final, they pushed Kerry all the way, with momentum shifting repeatedly during the game before a late surge from the Kingdom sealed their win.

In the other semi-final, Tyrone, with a quickfire double before the break, kept Roscommon at arm's length to secure their final spot.

The final saw Tyrone claim the title after a hard-fought battle against a formidable Kerry team, edging them out by a single point in the final contest at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park.
