Swinford water burst has been repaired
UISCE Éireann crews have repaired a burst water main in Swinford this afternoon and the water supply is returning to customers affected.
Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann’s Ronan McDonnell thanked residents and businesses in the area for their patience while crews carried out the repair works.
“We are cognisant that Síamsa Sráide, the town’s annual festival, is taking place this week and we understand how difficult this unplanned outage was for our customers in Swinford today. We appreciate their support as our crews worked to return a normal water supply as quickly as possible.”
While the network is recharging an alternative water supply continues to be available on Market Street, outside Horkan’s Public House on Main Street, and at Swinford Garda Station.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
