Man dies in Mayo quad bike accident

A man in his late sixties has died following a quad bike accident last evening (Wednesday) in east Mayo.

The victim was on the quad bike on farmland in the Kilkelly area when the vehicle overturned.

Emergency teams, including paramedics and firemen, rushed to the scene.

The deceased has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be conducted later.

The coroner for Mayo has been notified and an inquest into the circumstances of the tragedy will be conducted at a later stage.
