Mayo pub set to reopen six months after blaze
A popular Geesala pub that was destroyed by fire earlier this year is set to reopen its doors this Friday.
The High Chaparral was gutted in a blaze in February, but has since been rebuilt by the Munnelly family, who have run the premises for over 50 years.
The reopening coincides with the start of the Geesala Festival and will be marked by a special moment - former publican Eamon Munnelly Snr, aged 92, is expected to pull the first pint.
The pub has long been a central part of life in the village and its return is being warmly welcomed by the local community ahead of the annual festival.
