Repairs complete and water supply returning to east Mayo town
Uisce Éireann crews have isolated and repaired the burst which had impacted supply to Swinford town centre this morning.
Repairs were complete at approximately 1 p.m. and supply is now returning.
Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann’s Ronan McDonnell thanked residents and businesses in the town for their support while repair works were underway.
“We appreciate the support as our crews worked to return a normal water supply as quickly as possible,” said Ronan.
While the network is recharging, an alternative water supply continues to be available on Market Street and outside Horkan’s Public House on Main Street. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil the water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and encourages customers to engage through its website, X/Twitter channels (@IWCare and @IrishWater), and through the customer care helpline on 1800 278 278.
